Yunk Joins Jayhawk Nation

Tyler Yunk was a part of something special at Belvidere North. During his four years, the Blue Thunder won three state cross country championships and finished as the 2A runner-up in 2012. Yunk finished 29th, the second highest finisher behind Garrett Lee who recently committed to the University of Illinois. Yunk visited the Illini along with fellow midwest schools, Iowa, Indiana, and Kansas. He says he knew the Jayhawks were the right fit from the beginning.

"When I went on my first vist to Kansas it was such a great school. I really liked the team and everything they had going. They are going to help me with my future goals as a runner so it was the obvious choice."

Now that his decision is behind him, Yunk is focused on making more memories on a team with guys he calls his brothers and his best friends.

"My goals for this year areto continue to live up to the legacy we have set up at Belvidere North and not be just another kid who was only good in high school."
