Salute To Seniors: Michael Lederhouse - Glenbard West

What was your most memorable race/meet?

Most likely the West Suburban Silver Conference Championships 4x800m, where I anchored my team in a 1:51 split from 6th place into 3rd place and we received our first all-conference status in many years for the 4x800m relay. It was just a great relay to be a part of and an awesome feeling to share that moment and race with my teammates.

Who would you consider your biggest competition?

Although I have raced some amazingly talented runners in the State series, my biggest competition would be Malachy Schrobilgen of OPRF. We race frequently as he is in the same conference (WSC represent) and in addition to being one of the toughest and smartest runners around, he is also one of my best friends and we have had some great races against each other.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

Coming back from many serious injuries to still be a 2x All-State runner in one of the nation's most competitive States.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I wish I would of learned sooner to stop getting caught up in all the nerves and self-imposed pressure and just go out there and embrace the race and have fun with it.

What will you miss the most?

I will definitely miss all of my high school teammates and coaches the most, we've developed a family the past four years and it will be really tough parting ways.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Just remember that in it's most basic form, it's just a sport. It's not a matter of life or death, there a much more important things in life to focus on. Go out there and embrace these awesome opportunities you have, do it because you love it and run for fun because that is when you will run your best. Make sure to run with all you have and finish with no regrets.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending and competing at Georgetown University in the fall. HOYA SAXA!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

Huge thank you's to all of my friends, family, and teammates who have supported me in this passion, nothing would be possible without all of your help. I love you guys!
