
Illinois high school track and field athletes posted personal records across multiple events during the week of April 13.

Ryan Sheehan (Fremd, Palatine) threw 54-3.75 in the shot put at the MSL Boys Tri at Conant on April 14, improving from his previous best of 32-6.55. The mark places him 35th in Illinois and earned first place among 30 competitors. Sheehan also set a personal record in the discus, throwing 90-8.75 after entering with a best of 62-8.
Leanna Zalapi (Lakes, Lake Villa) jumped 18-2 in the long jump at the Jody Gitelis Track and Field Invitational on April 17, bettering her March 2025 mark of 14-10. The senior ranks 24th in the state and eighth among Illinois seniors, winning the event with 28 competitors.
Addison Campbell (Lincoln) ran 15.24 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Rochester Girls Meet on April 13, breaking her previous best of 17.28 from May 2025. The time set a school record and ranks 22nd in the state. Campbell also ran 50.21 in the 300-meter hurdles, improving from 51.86.
Clay Johnson (Yorkville) threw 144-3.75 in the discus at the Yorkville Boys Dual on April 13, advancing from his April 2026 mark of 82-2.5. The sophomore ranks 113th in Illinois and 14th among state sophomores, finishing third of 23 throwers.
Evan Quist (Thornton Fractional South, Lansing) cleared 6-3.75 in the high jump at the Yorkville Matt Wulf Invitational on April 17, surpassing his April 2026 height of 5-8. The junior places 50th in Illinois and eighth among state juniors, taking second place with eight jumpers competing.
Ta'Tianna Gibson (Hyde Park, Chicago) ran 12.64 in the 100 meters at Falcons Alumni/Senior Night on April 17, lowering her April 2026 time of 13.28. The junior ranks 114th in Illinois and 21st among state juniors, placing sixth in a field of 32 sprinters.
Jada Johnson (Willowbrook, Villa Park) clocked 12.71 in the 100 meters at the 39th Annual Falcon Blue & Gold Invite on April 17, improving from 13.90 in April 2025. The time ranks 135th in Illinois and earned sixth place among 39 runners.
