Mia Sirois has been one of the nation's top distance runners since entering the scene as a freshman

Boston, MA--
'Time is a virtue,' as they say, and in the case of Mia Sirois, her junior year was supposed to be a special one. However, the misfortune started during last summer's cross-country training in Colorado. The Barrington superstar hurt her foot, which ultimately led to several setbacks, and the fall season never fully materialized.
Sirois was able to enjoy a tremendous off-season of training and building her base and confidence to take on the 2026 indoor and outdoor track seasons.
In her debut at the Batavia Invitational, Sirois rocked the 3200m in 10:13.64. That time was IL#2, and it produced a tremendous sound wave.
All-American cross country runner Emma Hoffman (Sr., Otsego) came in as the favorite, having run 16:09.51 a month prior. Hoffman took charge of the race and clicked off 37.xx and 38-second mid circuits, hitting the first 1600m in 5:03.86. Sirois ran nearly step for step with Hoffman through the first third of the race, checking in at 5:04.17. Allison Lee of New Jersey and Macy Wingard (Sr., Denton Braswell, TX) were in tow under 5:05.
Entering the second mile, it was more of the same with Hoffman and Sirois controlling things. Hoffman hit the 3200m in 10:15.86, and Sirois was 10:15.95.
But it was about to become Mia Sirois' time.
Sirois took over the lead on the next lap and never trailed again. She dropped a flurry of low 38 and then high 37-second circuits, which eliminated Hoffman from contention. At 4800m (just 27 meters short of 3 miles), Sirois was 15:20 and 14 seconds ahead of Lee.
Sirois crossed the line first in 15:58.06, the US#2 time and the eighth fastest in prep history. The mark set an Illinois all-time best and brought a smile to her face, which was probably the most exhilarating moment of the evening.
