Summary: Rockford Christian opens week one as the top squad led by a class-leading 4x800m and second-ranked 4x400m. The Royal Lions have a host of distance contributors that boosted this team to the top.
Nicolai Martino leads the class in the 800 and 1600m to pair with the Indians state leading 4x400 and second ranked 4x800m relays. The defending state team champions still have some pieces left over that can aid in another trophy run.
Keep an eye on the near-west side of Chicago, Hope Academy, which boasts long jump class leader Taofeeck Dahissa, and North Lawndale, where Aaron Robinson has been a bright spot on the track and in the field.
Byron rounds out the top five with good field events and top-rated relays. Brayden Knoll leads the individual charge. The most change in rankings comes from class 1A. Chicagoland typically has more meet opportunities than the southern sector, which has few venues. It's Power Weekend, so let's see how these rankings shift next week.
