FULL RETURNERS LIST

-------------------------

The state's top shot putter, Olivia Marshall of Geneseo, graduated last year and took her talents to Indiana State University. A few others have moved on, which means a developing crop of talented throwers are back on the scene.

The indoor season is tricky, with many coaches using it as a time of development rather than wins and losses. Some other athletes get a late start due to the elongation of winter sports participation.

Let's take a look:

Marco Reynolds (Sr., Normal Community)- The state's top returner by the numbers and efficiency with five meet performances over 40 feet with a best of 41'7.25." Reynolds started her season in late February due to basketball but was able to win the Illinois Top Times. Reynolds, who committed to Eastern Illinois U, will be on a vengeance during the indoor campaign after not earning the desired results at the conclusion of the 2024 outdoor season.

Jaloni Wiley (Jr., Homewood-Flossmoor)- With a coach like Billy Bundy, it is easy to see why this talented athlete quickly transitioned into one of the best throwers in the state very quickly. Wiley moved from the middle of the pack in the 3A during the indoor season and would net a third-place finish at the ITT meet. Her 40'9.25" was achieved in early March, which indicated her rise. She became the state's overall second-best performer in the all-important outdoor season and copped the state championship.

Courtney Clabough (Sr., Yorkville)- A supreme talent in the wake of big brother Kyle Clabough, Courtney has become the most consistent thrower in the state for three years, soon to be four. She has thrown over 39 feet each indoor season, topping out at 40 feet in 2024. Clabough has finished in the top 10 of every meet indoors or outside. The only thing missing is an "indoor title" and one outdoors. But then again, her heart may be on the other implements (hammer, discus, weight throw).

Addie Stadsholt (Sr., Athens)- By the numbers, Addie has an impressive indoor mark on her record. She threw 39'11.5" at a small meet last year very early in the season. However, it seemed her attention moved toward the Weight Throw, where she placed ninth at the Nike Indoor Nationals.

Zion Young (So., Decatur St. Teresa)- It's very early, but look out, she is the state leader with a 39'9.75" personal best. Young's form and technique have improved significantly, and her trajectory is trending well over 40 feet. Young's mark sits just outside of the national top 50 mark.
