The Best Of MileSplit IL: 2024 Boys Cross Country

Tra'Monti Williams has stormed through a mountain of races, including the CPL Championship in October

-----------------------

Chicago Payton had a banner year as a whole. The Grizzlies won the 2A championship, and junior Tra'Monti Williams was the squad leader. While obtaining the team goals, he had some individual goals. He became the first runner from his school to win a public league title. In Peoria, Williams earned all-state honors, placing fifth in 14:36. Contrast this season to last season, Williams was more of a true middle-distance runner despite enjoying some success in cross country. He made the state meet but only placed 39th in 15:19.

Though so many runners have made a bevy of outstanding improvements this season, Williams' ascent appears to carry more weight than others. He gave everything he had with leadership and determination, a leader by example. The rest is history, as they say.
