Mascoutah, IL-

There have been pockets of small meets and lightweight cross country invitationals dotting the map throughout the state, but this first weekend of action collectively looked like real action.

Girls-

Class A's top-ranked Anna-Jonesboro did not have its best runner, sophomore Jadyn Gerardi, who sat out of the action. However, the Lady Wildcats still imposed their will on the competition, placing four runners in the top 10 and all seven in the top 15 and scoring 39 points. Senior Vanessa Teel of Pinckneyville led coast to coast and collected the victory in 19:18, ten seconds better than sophomore Breigh Desmond of Belleville Althoff.

Boys-

The highlight was a collective running exhibition by Mascoutah senior and junior Leo Cozzi and Lucas Jensen, who worked together throughout the race, finishing 1-2 in 15:37 and 15:45. 2A #19 Mascoutah placed all runners in the top 15 and all seven in the top 25, scoring 41 points.
