Lane Tech's Paul Neely will be a part of several stout relays for his quartet mates
====
In past years, the Kansas Relays have welcomed teams and individuals from Illinois to partake in the festivities. Historic boys' track and field programs, York and E. St. Louis Senior, have left an indelible mark at Rock Chalk Park.
It could allow Chicago Lane Tech to etch its name among the greats. Since coming out of COVID-19, the Champions have competed out of state at the Arcadia Invitational (California), Houston Classic (Memphis, TN), and now on the hollowed grounds made famous by Billy Mills and Jim Ryun.
The Champions will compete in seven relays: 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, Sprint Medley Relay (SMR), Distance Medley Relay (DMR), and 4x1600. It will be a long weekend, but it will surely be rewarding.
Keep an eye on some great talent from the Plains states. Jackson Cantwell (So., Nixa, MO), the son of former great shot putter Christian Cantwell, recently joined the 70-foot club with a massive US#1 72'3.75"- just missed the national sophomore record by two inches.
New Balance Nationals Indoor mile champion Clay Shively (Sr., Wichita Trinity Academy, KS) is not entered in the mile in which he clocked an eye-poppin' 4:00.47! He will join his teammates as favorites in the 4x1600 relay.
