Small IL Contingent Treks To Nike Indoor Nationals


New York, New York--The NIKE Track & Field Center was the scene of another indoor national. We were able to capture some solid performances from the Land of Lincoln.

Middle school-

Micah Weiss (8th grade- Pinon TC/Latin Middle School) improved significantly on his personal in the mile. Weiss took the lead in a highly competitive field just before the bell lap. He head-checked his competition several times inside the final half lap but finished with a meet record 4:34.64. Adam Galvan of Chatham-Glenwood, IL (Bullet Athletics) was in the same race and finished in sixth place with a time of 4:39.04.

Eighth-grader Francesca Mora of the Pinon TC (Chicago) was the highest-placing girl in the mile, taking 14th in a personal best of 5:26.28.

High School-

Dylon Nalley (Sr., Marion) earned his first All-American honors via the 5000m. He set an honest but aggressive pace, running through the 3200m in 9:05. Nalley would run 14:21.56.

Zoe Carter (Jr., Normal University) ran the race of her life in the 5k. Using 5:19 and 10:53 check mark splits, she would finish sixth in 17:00.45.

Kaden Garland (Sr., OPRF) made his national championship debut in the shot put and placed 11th with a heave of 58-2.50. He did not advance to the final.

Addison Stadsholt (Jr., Athens) competed in two throwing events. She placed 18th in the shot put with a toss of 38-0.75 and took 9th in the weight throw (49-6.50).
