Kankakee (Mcnamara) Sectional

Boys: John Kipp (Sr., Northridge Prep) wins his first sectional title in 15:58; #4 Northridge Prep put five runners in the top 15 and six in the top 20 and scored 35 points.

Girls: State contender Mia Kotler (Jr., Chicago Latin) has been on a mission this season. Once again, she was able to muscle her way to a victory in 18:04.


Elmwood Sectional

Boys: Isaiah Hill (Sr., Elmwood) was the only runner under 15:00 at 14:59; #7 Eureka upends the favorite #3 Elmwood 83-86.

Girls: Meika Bender (Jr., Eureka) runs 17:59 for the title; #3 Eureka 95-99 winner over #7 Peoria Notre Dame.


Decatur (St. Teresa) Sectional I VIDEOS

Boys: Despite taking the first three spots (Josiah Hortin- 15:29), #1 Tuscola faced their toughest challenge of the season, winning by just 14 points 74-89 over St. Joe-Ogden. Blake Mcleese (So) did not compete for Tuscola.

Girls: Isabella Keller (Fr., Effingham St. Anthony) did enough to win the individual title in 17:10 over a great field. Molly Farrell (So., Marshall), Tessa Bowers (So., Shelbyville), and Kate Foltz (So., Tuscola) were all in the field.

#1 Tolono Unity continues to do well, putting all seven runners in the top 20 and scored 45 points.


Benton Sectional

Boys: Gavin Genisio (Sr., Benton) is setting himself up nicely to repeat as state champion after cruising to victory in 14:03 for 2.92 miles. #2 Benton put all five scorers in the top 10 to score a paltry 25 points.

Girls: Elena Rybak (Jr., Father McGivney) is a four second winner over Ahry Comer (Sr., Pope County) 16:47-51; #2 Anna-Jonesboro continues to impress, putting all seven runners in the top 16 to score 38 points.


Oregon Sectional I PHOTOS

Boys: Nicolai Martino (Jr., Winnebago) pulls the upset in 16:04 (5K); #9 Rockford Christian takes the title by points over Aurora Central Catholic 80-86.

Girls: #14 Winnebago scores 99 points to win another sectional title. The unheralded Evelyn O'Connor (Jr., Seneca) scores a huge upset over Emily Downing (So., Cambridge) and Kennady Anderson (Sr., Kewanee) in 19:07.
