LANE TECH HS- If it weren't for mutual respect for one another, Whitney Young and Kenwood would be fighting mortal enemies. Many of the Lady Dolphins and Broncos have competed against one another since middle school while at the same time joining forces during the summer track and field club circuit. So it is pretty fitting that championship would go down to the wire and after the triple jump results were counted, the Dolphins won their seventh consecutive conference title 142-141. It was the highest scoring championship with the smallest point differential between first and second place.

Kenwood won the frosh-soph title 128-110 over Lane.

Track-

Whitney Young built an early lead on its foes by taking the 3200 (Jade Lavallee- 11:10.19), 4x800 (10:19.50), and 4x100 (49.25).

Kenwood senior Asia Thomas countered by winning three races: 100-11.91, 400- 58.08, and 200- 24.55. Thomas was pushed in all of her races. She narrowly escaped the by 100 to by .01 to freshman upstart Mariyah Robinson of Simeon. Teammate junior Harmony Brown battled throughout the 400 before settling for second in 58.79. In Thomas' final race of the day, Robinson fought her hard, running a personal best 25.03.

The most competitive race of the day was the 100H. Kennedy Ross (Sr., Lindblom) copped a personal best 14.43 in turning back Jordan Hamb (Fr., South Shore) 14.92 and Simone Bernard (So., Whitney Young) 15.22.

Hannah Diete (Jr., Taft) won her first outdoor title in the 800, clocking 2:22.56.

"Lulu" Lucia Ton-That (So., Northside Prep) won her first individual title in the 1600 with a time of 5:11.02. Ton-That ran with Lavallee for three laps before turning on the afterburners for the comfortable victory.

Kenwood showed some depth without Thomas in the 4x200 and 4x400, winning with respectable times of 1:43.77 and 4:02.23.

Field-

Kenwood would go to work on the strength of Thomas and Jaliyah Shepherd (Sr). They went 1-2 in the long jump with Shepherd taking the title with a 17-11 mark.

Tessa Myatt (Sr., Northside Prep) surprised the field in the shot put, winning with a huge personal best by nearly four feet to 38-1.50.
