=====
Gavin vs. Ethan: There may be bigger overall depth and talented distance races, but it's doubtful that any of those races will touch this duel. Gavin Genisio (Jr., Benton) and Ethan Hogan (Jr., Columbia) are among the very best distance runners in the state and in some instances, have the ability to be heard on the national level. Genisio ran the mile in 4:08 last year as a sophomore and Hogan had a breakout indoor campaign and clocked 4:09 for the full mile which translates to 4:08 for 1600m. This great southern Illinois duo will compete in the 3200 and 1600.
Genisio is the state leader in the duece at 9:09.42 while Hogan checks in at 9:13.31. The class record is 9:13.8 and it's in serious jeopardy. The second race of the day is the 1600 and Matt Clevenger's 11-year-old meet record is also in trouble. Look for a time under 4:16 for sure. Don't blink or you might miss something.
The 60m: This race is filled with fast scenarios... unknown commodities such as Braydon Waller (Sr., Marian Catholic), Nathan Hippard (Sr., Mascoutah), and Chris Nelson (So., Herrin) are under 7.00
Chase Crawford: The Cahokia senior shot putter signed with the University of Missouri after producing a great indoor season to date which includes several marks over 60 feet. His 63-3.50 is ranked second in the state and seventh in the nation. Crawford has had some great moments this season, he will get one more before going to the outdoor season.
Paul Migas: The junior from Lake Villa (Lakes) is ready to strut his stuff in the pole vault. Migas has competed in some big situations like the world-famous Millrose Games. In that great atmosphere, Migas cleared 16 feet for the first time.
60H: Three preliminary heats are absolute fire. Demarlynn Taylor (Sr., E. St. Louis Sr.), Jaden Bossie (Sr., Chicago Mt. Carmel), and Keyshawn Lyons (Sr., Cahokia) are expected to move on to the final. Taylor recently won the New Balance Indoor Nationals Rising Stars title in a personal best in 8.16. We could see our first sub 8.00 of the season.
