New Names Top STAR Teams Rankings Entering Power Weekend

York Girls posted a 1:45.77 4x200 at home to help boost them to a tie for #1 this week.

With just a couple days until the biggest Saturday of the young indoor season thus far, the STAR Teams Rankings continue to flesh out with many more teams entering the ring of competition.

On the Boys' side, 125 teams now have at least one mark qualifying for the STAR Teams Rankings, totaling 250 points. For the Girls, it is 131 teams compiling 281 total qualifying points.

For the first time this season, we have a school in sole possession of first place on the Boys' side: Oak Park-River Forest leads the way with 8 points, boosted by their strength in the field events with five of the field events already with qualifying marks (HJ, LJ, TJ, PV, SP). With a deep distance squad yet to compete in full, OPRF may be in the driver's seat for some time.

Haven't we seen this story before for the girls? It's a tie with 10 points for both York and Prospect, with complete team performances from both teams at multiple meets. York has done it mostly at home, while Prospect made the trip to Hononegah and Huntley to hit a bunch of marks. The two squads who went head-to-head in cross country have almost the same points in the same events, with the only differences being HJ for Prospect and 4x800 for York.
