You can say that Southern Boone MO senior superstar Connor Burns is a fire starter but there is no need to call the fire department to put out the flames. If he has his way on January 21st, 2023, the recently named Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center may be burned down (metaphorically speaking of course).

Working as a talent scout to enhance great track and field meets in the Midwest is a tough job, but when athletes want to make their own history, things become so much more enjoyable. Burns has rallied some of his fast buddies to come and join him in Chicago.

The two-mile field could be one of the most stacked fields outside of a national championship. Burns has mentioned that he wants the two-mile national record held by the legendary Edward Cheserek, which is 8:39.16. It's a very ambiguous goal but within reach for the sub-4:00 miler.

Here is who's committed so far:

Christopher Caudillo (Sr., Clovis CA)- 8:45.19; 4:03.89

Noah Breker (Sr., Minneapolis MN)- 8:54.00

Jackson Heidesch (Sr., Dowling Catholic IA)- placed 5th at Team Cross Nats; ran 14:39 5K and 9:01.29 3200m

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The HOKA Mile key figures:

Hunter Jones benzie central (Sr., Benzie Central MI)- 4:08.39, 8:55 (3200m); 14:20 - 5K

Gavin Genisio (Jr., Benton)- 4:07.71

Owen Bosley (Sr., Homestead WI) - 4:17.47; 9:05.98
