Tony's Take: Dr. Worrill Invite shows talent and promise

Kenwood boys proved to themselves and others they are a team to watch for this season

RESULTS I VIDEOS I PHOTOS I PREVIEW

CHICAGO- Gately Track & Field Center was a vision that the late great Dr. Conrad Worrill had in mind many years ago for the youth, but particularly the kids of Chicago who did not have the access to train and compete in a quality facility.

Congratulations to the boys and girls team winners Chicago Kenwood. But in all honesty, the bigger winners were the kids who got to experience perhaps a lifetime opportunity to compete in a top-notch facility if not world-class.

Nearly 30 boys and girls teams took to the lightening fast Mondo surface and produced many personal bests as well as state-leading marks.

We have to be fair all the way around too. The meet format seemed a bit odd and more suited for teams stronger in distance events (DMR, 4x800, 3200 are examples). There were some hiccups with the management of the meet that went over five hours as well as miscounted laps on several relays and races which could not officially be recorded. Also, numerous disqualification infractions were overlooked.

Overall, the emphasis of key elite performances should be noted below:
