Matt Olech (Sr., Elgin Harvest Christian Academy)- was an athlete who took advantage of the "Covid" down time to improve his stock and as a result, he is considered the favorite in the 3200m and 1600m. Olech made serious noise at the Distance Night in Palatine last month running 9:03.81 (IL#3) and placing fourth in the monster field. The good side is there is no one within 20-seconds overall.
It could be an interesting battle in the 1600m if the heat plays a factor as well as Olech attempting to compete in the 4x800 to secure vital team points. Either way don't expect foes Justin Mumford (Wesclin), Layton Hall (Arthur), Ryan Hardiman (Chicago Latin), or Miles Sheppard (West Hancock) to show much compassion.
