Batavia, IL-
It was a beautiful day for some cross country action at the Mooseheart HS compound. The climes reached into the upper 50's and lower 60s at its peak.
The boy's varsity race was a strategic affair on the individual side. Running strong throughout most of the race, Ryan Schreiner and Will Roth of Wheaton North hitting the opening mile in approximately 5:10- Ryan Mansour of Batavia and three Wheaton-Warrenville South runners following closely in tow.
The second mile it was much of the same story as the first mile, as positioning had basically not even changed. The only difference was the front pack distancing themselves a bit more from the Tiger's second pack as the front pack came through in a very mellow 10:30. Schreiner took off in the final mile running a 5:05 to seal the deal for a 15:35 win, followed by Mansour and Roth who both finished at 15:40.
The team battle was a close one, but Wheaton Warrenville South did edge out Wheaton North with a score of 31 to 37. The Tigers were winning throughout every point in the race. While they didn't have the time performances they wished to have, they did in fact have the team performance they wanted with them only having a 31-second split. St. Charles East was a no-show due to an ailing runner, so they took precautions and didn't run for the safety of the other teams.
Wheaton North did fix some issues with their 2nd pack and will be looking to move up the rankings this week.

The girl's varsity race was missing a few heavy hitters as well, as Wheaton-Warrenville South and Batavia both rested their top 7. This was the perfect opportunity for some emerging girls to shine. That was the case with Marley Andelman and Morgan Sandlund of St. Charles East dominated the first mile in 6:05 with Jenna Bachara of Wheaton-Warrenville South trailing behind them.
The second mile is where they hammered down and put in the work though,
coming through at 12:28 and this time having a major lead on their number three runner. They continued to run neck to neck until the finish, where the duo both
ran 18:41 to top off a great ran race.
St. Charles East dominated the race after the 1st mile, holding the top five positions in the race after the 1.5-mile marker. Hitting on a perfect score of 15 points, the Saints had seven runners under the 20:00 barrier and showed they shouldn't be messed around with the rest of the year. The next team was Wheaton-Warrenville south who scored a total of 56 points.
