2020 3A Girls Pre-Season Relays Preview

4x400 Relay-
2019 State Champion: Homewood Flossmoor 3:49.92
Key Teams: Homewood-Flossmoor, Barrington, Evanston, Glen Ellyn (Glenbard West), Skokie (Niles North), St. Charles East, Batavia, Mt. Prospect (Prospect), Chicago Kenwood, Chicago Lane Tech, Chicago Whitney Young, Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East), Winnetka (New Trier), Dekalb

Breakdown: Let's not waste too much time here, the IHSA record (3:45.14+) could be in serious jeopardy of being taken down. Homewood-Flossmoor was within three seconds of the oldest all-time record left on the books- 36 years its been held in the grasp of the East St. Louis Lincoln Tigerettes. The Lady Vikings return all four from last season's title team, all four have shown early preseason improvement. The question is could the Lady Vikings take down this record in a solo effort or will help be needed? They finished nearly ten seconds faster than a finalist who will return three members from an All-State squad. Maybe this unit should be looking for postseason opportunities in case they fall short of their record goal.

Barrington, Evanston, and Glenbard West are returning finalists who should be much improved this season as they return at least three experienced runners from last season. All will battle in this showstopper race along with other up and coming squads as team points may be on the line along with all-state bids. Pay attention indoors as you may see a preview of what's to come.
