Class 2A Boys Sprints Pre-Season Preview

200m Dash -
2019 State Champion: Leondre Pollard (Dolton [Thornridge]), 21.55  [+0.9]
Key Athletes: Marcus Lampley (Sr., East St Louis Sr.), Jeremiah Hamilton (Sr., Urbana), Finnigan Schirmer (Sr., Marengo), Willie Johnson (Sr., East St. Louis Sr), Kaleb Brown (So., Chicago [St.Rita]), Devin Willis (Sr., Mascoutah), Keontez Lewis (Jr., East St. Louis Sr.), Keegan Cullison (Sr., Plano), Jerrell Wright (Sr., New Lenox [Providence Catholic]), Josh Edison (Jr., Troy [Triad])
Breakdown: Marcus Lampley, who was nipped at the line in 2019, lead the field of returners. This field is no joke as four of the top five All-Staters in this event return, six overall. Lampley's goal is to win this event with hopes of locking up another team title for the storied Flyers. Just as important is running blistering times and being on the school wall of fame.

There will be no cakewalk to the top of the podium as Jeremiah Hamilton seeks to continue his rise into sprint notoriety in Illinois and grab a title on his way. Don't forget about Finnegan Schirmer as he should have a chip on his shoulder after being denied a fourth gold medal after his eighth race of the weekend. We could see Willie Johnson here, depending on whether he choose to stay fresh for the 4x4. The development of Devin Willis and Kaleb Brown in this event should not be ignored.
