E. St. Louis Could Dominate 2A Boys Relays Scene This Year

4x400 Relay

2019 State Champion: East St. Louis (Sr), 3:18.13

Key Teams: East St. Louis (Sr), Norridge (Ridgewood), Macomb, Carbondale, Hillcrest

Breakdown:  East St Louis is the class of the field with Eureka chasing. Both units three members from sub 3:20 relays. The Flyers came from behind to sting the Hornets and win the title. But remember when we are talking about the IHSA's most successful program that when stacked fresh on the legs of senior ace Willie Johnson, they are a national power force capable of 3:12-3:13. With that being said, the 2A record (3:17.57) is in jeopardy at any given notice.

Eureka definitely has some track weapons to counter whatever the Flyers may come at them within a state meet setting. The Hornets' main goal should be to brand themselves and be the best they can be this season.

Overall the all-state teams from last year return either one or two people, so expect the podium for the 4x400 to have a lot of turnover from the podium last year.
