E. St. Louis Could Dominate 2A Boys Relays Scene This Year

4x100 Relay

2019 State Champion:  East St. Louis Sr., 41.81

Key Teams: East St. Louis, Troy (Triad), Rantoul, Columbia, Tinley Park, Peoria Manual, Lombard (Montini), Woodstock North, Monticello, Norridge (Ridgewood), Chicago (St.Rita), Plano

Breakdown: Barring any in-race mishaps, dethroning the defending champions in this event may be a tall task, as East St. Louis returns all four legs from a sub-42 second squad. Some in the camp has said a challenge to the classification (41.12 by Cahokia in 2015) record, and even the all-time record (40.86 by Crete-Monee this past season) will happen, but we shall see about that.

Rantoul, who was all-state without their top man Jerry Harper and Tinley Park could be units to watch as both return three athletes with experience.

Experience in this event matters: one slip up with the baton, or taking off too early or late could spell relay doom. Columbia, Peoria ManualRidgewood, and Woodstock North are other experienced units who could crash the party
