It Was A Nice Day For A Track Meet At Wheaton North Best 4

Sunny skies on a picture-perfect spring day that was ripe for some fierce competition that featured boys from Wheaton Warrenville South, Glenbard West, Naperville Central, Lake Park, Willowbrook, and Plainfield South. This meet featured a unique format in which the fans got to see organized sections by numerical order. So #1 runners competed together, then the #2 runners went against each other and so on for 4 heats in every event.

The hosts kicked things off with Connor Zydek dominating the 3200m in 9:36.71 and Josh James placing first in the 110HH with a time of 14.49. However, Wheaton Warrenville South wasn't about to let North have it easy. Two-time all-stater Cedric Rowzee snatched a pair of nice sprint double wins in the 100m and 200m respectively 10.45 and 22.18. Sean Maison also snagged a win for Tigers in the 800 by .14 seconds after a long battle with Naperville Central's Seth Klein-Collins 1:58.14-1:58.28.  

Rory Cavan came ready to show Glenbard West's power dropping a 4:16.19 in 1600 for first place, speeding past Thomas Shilgalis of Naperville on the last lap. The Hilltoppers also had a clean win in the 4x200m to show just how versatile this team can be.

Plainfield South displayed their strength in field events today, as Francis Richman threw a 49'11 in the shot put, and Myles Lincoln leaped 45'03 in the triple to both score some solid first place points for Plainfield. Lincoln also tied for first in long jump with Tyquan Cox from Glenbard West, each jumping a 22'0.

Willowbrook also showed some strength in jumps with level winners Jaylon White and Sam Glass winning their levels in long and triple jump respectively. Another close battle was in the high jump between Ben Levasseur of Wheaton North and Matt Travers of Glenbard West each jumping 5'10, but Levasseur managed to take that first place spot.

Wheaton North also took wins at home in the 4x4 and in the 300m hurdles as Eli Odell streaked past Lake Park and the for a time of 40.25. Briggs Cecil from Wheaton North looked to take first place in the 400m with a 51.26 after the first heat, but Thomas Codo of Naperville Central had other plans by running a 50.98 in the second heat to take the total 400m win. Wheaton North took first place at the invite overall, followed by Naperville Central in second and Wheaton Warrenville South in third, but this meet showed a just small sample of what's to come from all of these powerhouse teams during the outdoor season.
