Key Athletes: Finnigan Schirmer (Jr., Marengo), Marcus Lampley (Jr., East St. Louis), Leondre Pollard (Sr., Thornridge), Darreon West (Sr., Cahokia), Nic Davy (Sr., Morris), Javon Venson (Sr., Chicago St. Rita), Anthony Bartley (Sr., East St. Louis), Justin Houston (Sr., Chicago [Brooks]), Seth Sottos (Sr., Rock Island Alleman), Marcus Coleman (Sr., Chicago [St. Rita]), Johnnie Caswell (Sr., Troy [Triad]), Willie Johnson (Jr., East St. Louis), Ryan Curington (Sr., Chicago [De La Salle])

Breakdown: The top returner in terms of placement on "big blue" is Finnigan Schirmer, who again is in the mix for an individual title. The multi-sport Schirmer doesn't have a true off-season, but finds time to work on his speed and form with his coach during football and basketball season. Third place last year he's looking to sprint to the top, but that's easier said than done. Justin Houston is back and has a 21.78 on his resume, an injury prevented him from competing at state prelims. East St Louis' Marcus Lampley is one to watch, he is out to make a statement after his team's season was cut short last year. Thornridge has another speedster in Leondre Pollard who hopes to shake things up along with Cahokia's Darreon West and Triad's Johnnie Caswell. St. Rita's duo of Javon Venson and Marcus Coleman development could also put them in the All-State conversation come May.
