Breakdown: It has been a while since we have had a compelling battle cook up in the preseason for the race termed the "Century." Sean Tyler and Finnigan Schirmer appear to be the two athletes who will lead the charge in the century race. Tyler, a Western Michigan football recruit, got the edge over the workhorse Schirmer last Spring at the state by finishing third (10.86) in the finals. Both have sub 10.70 times on their resume and look to not only improve those times but move up in placement along with it. If those two slip up there is a very capable pack behind them who will be looking to leave Charleston with gold around their neck. Nic Davy and Carson Rantanen appear to be the leading candidates to pull it off, but we caution you not to snooze on any sprinter in the field as all are putting in major work to get some major wheels.
