Despite some tricky weather conditions that affected travel and performance outcomes, it did not stop many athletes from giving their all at meets around the country. This past weekend also marked the end of the "pre-season" and the beginning of the official IHSA track and field season which is actually one long season despite indoor and outdoor components.

2New #1's:

Marcellus Moore (Fr., Plainfield North) cops the top spot in the 60/200 at the University of Arkansas HS Invitational. The freshman sensation blazed 6.97 to take 3rd place in the final. Moore made the 200m final running taking 4th in a very respectable 22.27. In the prelims, Moore ran a state best 22.13.
David Oluyadi (Sr., Chicago Lane Tech) made the triple jump final at U of Ark HS Invite where he had two jumps over 45-5 but the 45-10 third place was the effort that improved on his state leading mark
Luis Cossio (Jr., Barrington) took over the state best in the boy's 400 ranks with a smooth riding personal record 50.21 at U of Arkansas.
Josh Cable (Jr., Rochester) opened his season in Arkansas placing 6th in the 800 running 1:58.20
Zachery Bradford (Jr., Bloomington) entered in the elite National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, NV and came out with a 5th place finish which happens to be US #6 at 16-4. It is also Bradford's personal best all-conditions.
Johnathan Powell (Sr., Stevenson) leaped to a 21-6.25 at U of Arkansas
Chicago Brooks College Prep grabs second place in the boys 4x400 relay running 3:28.51 at the M.I.T.S. #3 at Grand Valley State in Michigan
Trevor Miller (Sr., Warrensburg-Latham) competed and earned third place in the boys shot at U of Arkansas Invite 48-0.25
For the second weekend in a row Elizabeth Drab (Sr., St. Viator) lowered the girls 400 mark. She ran 57.01 in the U of Arkansas HS Invite prelims
Jaimie Robinson (Sr., Homewood-Flossmoor) maintains her national position at US #5 in the triple jump with a 40-7.5 in placing second at U of Arkansas
Lauren Seaver (Jr., Normal U High) made big strides in solidifying herself as an elite pole vaulter. Seaver produced a big personal best 12-4 at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, NV.
