Nike Cross Nationals: Let's Meet The Midwest Individual Boys

Dylan Jacobs (Jr., Orland Park Sandburg)- First came on the scene as a sophomore when he ran 14:36 (3m) at the Richard Spring Invitational. His performance was completely unexpected for a team that turned out to be one of the best in Illinois history. Sandburg would go on to place 4th at NXN and Jacobs  wound up 189th. His track season was relegated to the 4x800 relay because of injury during the indoor season. Jacobs ran a leg on the relay that clocked US #2 7:37.36- one of the very best that Illinois has seen. Individually, Jacobs ran 4:15.81 in the 1600m. He did not run a ton of 3200/2-milers because of fitness. Jacobs and Danny Kilrea are the best juniors in Illinois distance running. It will be awesome seeing Jacobs go for sub 9:00 in track next spring.  Did you know that Jacobs got his start in sports playing soccer? It's no surprise because distance runners come from a soccer background.
