Minooka Sweeps The Day At 3A Edwardsville Sectional

In the boys' race it was a tight pack through the first mile with little separation.  Minooka senior Soren Knudsen really showed his strength as he came through the two mile mark all alone.  With a slight gap from the leader, Lincoln-Way East seniors Scott Platek and Noah Healy, followed by senior Lenny Baumann of Bradley-Bourbonnais and Lincoln-Way West senior Evan Mitchell worked to move up in the field.  There were a lot of moves made in the final mile of the race as Platek had fell back slightly and Healy and junior Franky Romano of Edwardsville had moved up nicely.  Coming in at a time of 15:48.21 to win sectionals was Knudsen.  Within the final stretch, Mitchell passed Healy to secure second place with a time of 16:07.34, while Healy placed third running 16:09.52.  Also placing in the top five was Romano running 16:13.86 and Baumann at 16:14.17.
