The AAU Nationals are finally here and a long season of track and field is now at the end of the long road.

Some athletes who competed in last week’s USATF National Championship have decided to double dip and get it one last try at medals and fame.

Here is the list of up to date performances on key Illinois athletes:

Lajarvia Brown picks up her first national title in the Long Jump

Lajarvia Brown (Alton HS)- The senior to be continued to produce great results but this time it was in her “secondary” event the long jump. Brown admitted that she loves the triple jump more than the latter. Despite the less than sentimental feelings Brown still mustered a personal best and IL#2/US#20 19-6.25 (+0.8) gold medal performance in the 17-18 year old division.

Dajour Miles (Aurora Flyers Track Club)- The incomparable young superstar in the making completed her first round of preliminary action without much resistance. “Cinnamon” contested the 100m and 200m dashes with solid marks. Miles kicked things off in heat 1 of the Century running 12.28 into a slight head wind (-1.0) in the 14 year old division; Miles leads all qualifiers of the 200m prelims with a personal best 24.22. The time would be an IL#1 mark had she been a high school student.

Mikenna Robinson (Aurora Flyers)- 800m: won heat 4 in 2:20.15 of the 14 year old division. Robinson will be a freshman this fall at Naperville (Neuqua Valley).

Katelynne Hart (Unattached/Glenbard West) 800m: Summer track is a breeding ground for talent production and great finds. Hart, who is a former gymnast, put her foot to the metal and qualified with the fourth fastest time (2:19.50). Now it’s on to the finals in the 14 year old division.

Isaiah Robinson (Neuqua Valley) 800m: took heat 1 of the 15-16 boys division in 1:58.50 and easily qualified for the final. Robinson is budding to be the heir apparent of his former great teammate Ty Moss who will be a freshman at the University of Nebraska this fall.
