In His Own Words: Grant Inskeep

Hello again, I’m here with a little update on my running. This past week was amazing since I had the chance to spend the majority of it in Scottsdale, Arizona. I got the opportunity to run some pretty intense hills, hike the mountains, put together two 1,000 piece puzzles, and relax by the pool in 75-degree weather while Illinois experienced a snow storm. With just under 40 total miles, this was one of my biggest weeks in terms of mileage. Being out there gave me a good break from all the snow in Illinois, log some longer runs and gear up for my first and possibly only indoor meet next Saturday.

The meet will be Saturday March 16th at Monmouth, Illinois. I will be running in the 800m and will update you all next week. Last year’s race was a disappointment. My legs felt heavy and this year I plan to taper a little on my mileage. I am hoping to get in one or two speed workouts and cut down on my long runs. Our first “official” team practice was Monday, March 11th and also the first day back from spring break. I start my final high school trimester so I have all new classes. I am one step closer to graduation and focused on making the best out of my senior track season!
