Teams to Watch: Cary (C.-Grove), Naperville (Central), Buffalo Grove, Oak Park (Fenwick), Lincolnshire (Stevenson), McHenry, Plainfield (East), Palos Heights (Shepard), Oswego (H.S.), Chicago (St. Ignatius), Downers Grove (South), Batavia

Neuqua Valley was off but holds tight onto their top ranked spot.

Downers Grove North has to be the story of 3A this week. A remarkable 7 man pack won the First to the Finish Invite over Lyons Township 66-87. This performance should garner attention nationally for Downers Grove North, and moves them up to #2 in the Week 3 rankings. Not far behind Hinsdale Central is Whitney Young, who finished 4th despite a tough race for Clayton Mendez.

Mt. Prospect won the Depaul Prep (formerly Gordon Tech) Ram Invite at Horner Park in Chicago with a remarkable pack over Loyola. Loyola was without their top two runners, Paolo Tiongson and Andrew Niewarowski, so take their finish with some grains of salt. Loyola remains high in the rankings, while Prospect rises steadily.

Impressive performances at First to the Finish include Marmion Academy and Highland Park, the 5th and 6th 3A teams. Notable is Highland Park's 33 second scoring split, the tightest in the meet, which allowed them to finish high despite having a first stick at 44 points.

Bouncing back from a tough week is Minooka, finishing 8th place for the second week in a row but this time in front of numerous ranked teams at FTTF. The Indians have a well-defined top 3 and hope to improve on 4-5.

New Trier finished 11th at First to the Finish without #2 runner Patrick Norrick, so the Trevians hold serve in the middle of the rankings, in the midst of a logjam of Northern Suburban teams including Loyola Academy and Highland Park. Yorkville and Stevenson fall in the rankings but also missed runners this week.Buffalo Grove falls out of the rankings, finishing 26th at First to the Finish.

St. Charles East enters the top 25 with a convincing win over Jones at Lake Park. The Saints split 30 seconds on Jake Beno and appear to be ready to use their program-refined pack running to compete later in the season.

Also new to the top 25 are Oswego East and Fremd, with strong performances at Detweiller. Both East (Dylan Zangri) and Fremd (Danny Peterson) are highlighted by strong front runners who led their teams to top 10 finishes.

Wheaton Warrenville South continues to look strong and added an Invitational win to their resume, scoring 77 points and finishing ahead of a surging Mundelein, who enter this week ranked for the first time, in 24th.
