2017 was a tight team race as host Hinsdale Central was victorious over Glenbard West 84-86. Things could be different if #3 Wheaton South loads their lineup in the early going. They return a strong complement of runners led by sophomore Samantha Poglitsch. The aforementioned teams have some lineup changes from last year but should be good nonetheless. Minooka won the Normal West Invite last weekend and will present a strong challenge. Palatine, New Trier, and Naperville Central are good squads.
Individually, all eyes will be on superstar junior Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West. She will make her invitational debut as the defending champion. The course record could fall or we could see a tactical win. Regardless, look for a good race from a solid field.
