Class A-

Cory Landon (Carlinville) wins the Class A Boys title (Steven Bulgarin)

[Boys]

#5 Elmwood-Brimfield Boys was expected to face a bigger challenge from a host of real good schools. But instead the Trojans won comfortably over #13 Carlinville 123-162. It does help when you have two scorers in the top 10 like Matt Osmulski and Owen Habeger who finished 4th and 7th in the scoring table. Carlinville's big strike was a winning effort by senior Cory Landon who clocked 15:24. #7 Pleasant Plains and #9 Urbana University finished 25th and 11th in the 50 team field. Somehow one has to wonder if both teams held out several runners.

The individual race was all Mr. Landon who the race pretty easily. He had a goal of running in the low 15:00's but after hitting the first mile in 5:07, plan B had to be inserted. Landon continued to run within himself at 2m in 10:17 and that was she wrote. " I felt like I never really had to go out of my comfort zone all race," he said of his solid run. Wyatt Mcintyre of Athens led three others under 15:40 with his 15:32.

Urbana University High appears back on track with Arielle Summit and Annemarie Michael

[Girls]

#3 Urbana U-High came in with a business like mentality and good health. The Illineks had their two guns in Arielle Summit and Annemarie Michael to lean heavily on. They did not disappoint. Summit fresh off a calendar year long injury placed 2nd overall but 1st in the team scoring running 18:00. Michael had been nicked up as well but was strong enough to place 6th. The final team standings would put UHigh as easy winners tallying 86 points to #6 Seneca's 149. It was a tight battle with four other teams: Annawan 161, #15 Winnebago 161, #19 Carlinville 165, #16 Eureka 170.

Daly Galloway, who runs for S. Wilmington during the cross country season won easily in 17:23.
