Williamsville East junior-to-be Kala Allen and Cornwall graduate Soroya Hudson both competed at The USATF Youth National Championships at Benedectine University in Illinois last week. Allen has won two outdoor 400m dash state championships, including this years in 54.75.
This has definitely not been the best year for Robin Reynolds, but it's really nice to see her finish it off with another national championship. Reynolds has lit up the youth scene for years now and holds at least one national record at just about every USATF age group from 100 to 400. This year, however, Reynolds has struggled to stay healthy which has hampered both her momentum and her fitness. She earned a silver on Saturday at 200 meters in 24.01. And then came back Independence Day to take second in the 100m (12.01) before finally getting the gold tonight with a 53.75.
Kamal Koroso of Terry Parker HS is having a good week at the USATF Youth Outdoor National Championships in Lisle, Illinois. The rising sophomore earned a national championship on Thursday in the Intermediate Boys 3000m title by 12 seconds with a 9:01.36. He followed that up with the top time headed out of the qualifying round on Friday in the 1500m in 4:14.33. He will compete in the 1500 finals on Sunday.
