Alyssa Brewer is a two-time CIF-State champion in the 800 meters and on Saturday at the 51st Arcadia Invitational, she showed why, churning through the two-lap race to her second consecutive Arcadia title in a time that was just over her US #2 time (2:08.99) in a race that produced three of the top 11 times in CA and had runner-up Jana Shawver and third pace Brooke Manson post the Nos. 8 and 12 times, respectively, in the US. Brewer, a senior at San Ramon California HS, recently committed to USC.

Katelynne Hart, a sophomore from Glenbard West HS in Glen Ellyn, Illinois - just outside of Chicago - runs US #1 time in the Invitational 3,200m at the 51st Arcadia Invitational. Her 10:02.56 PR led a parade of top-10 U.S. times, including the top three: 2. Mariah Castillo (Saugus) 10:09.12, 3. Gillian Wagner (Redwood) 10:14.11. The others: 5. Haley Herberg (Capistrano Valley) 10:18.93, 6. Camila Noe (Bozeman, MT) 10:18.99; 8 Corie Smith (Buchanan) 10:21.51, 9. Kristin Fahy (La Costa Canyon) 10:22.53.
Sondre Guttormsen broke the CA state record with an 18-feet 2.50-inch clearance in the pole vault on Saturday night to win the 51st Arcadia Invitational. Guttormsen, from Davis Senior High and Norway, also broke the Norwegian Junior National record. Here's a post-event interview with Guttormsen.
With Maddy Denner running 4:44 on the anchor leg, the Oak Ridge girls distance medley relay team posted the fastest time in the U.S., 11:42.85, to win at the 51st Arcadia Invitational. The team included strong lead leg from Maddy's twin sister Elena, and middle legs from junior Chloe Taylor and freshman Abby Fletcher.
Chiles senior and Syracuse signee Michael Phillips has logged his second sub nine minute performance in the last month.
In other Arcadia action, the Pine Crest girls fresh off their runner-up finish behind Great Oak in the 4x1600, placed 4th in the distance medley relay.
