
Several Illinois high school athletes set personal records during competition the week of May 11.
Elijah Brown (Putnam County) ran 22.40 in the 200 meters at the Putnam County High Boys Meet #2 on May 12, improving from his previous best of 25.30. The mark ranks #149 in Illinois and #9 among state sophomores, setting a school record. Brown won the event and also ran a personal best 11.84 in the 100 meters, improving from 12.35.
Drew Walker (York) clocked 2:19.03 in the girls' 800 meters at the IHSA Class 3A TRG Sectional at Wheaton Warrenville South on May 14, dropping from her previous best of 2:28.23 set in April. The sophomore ranks #84 in Illinois and #17 in her class after placing third in a field of 32.
Kaitlin Miazga (Prospect) ran 10:58.77 in the girls' 3200 meters at the IHSA Class 3A TRG Sectional at Deerfield on May 13, improving from 11:31.21. The sophomore's time ranks #32 in Illinois and #7 in her class after finishing third among 20 competitors.
Harlin Tollion (El Paso-Gridley) threw 170-2.75 in the boys' discus at the Unlimited Entry Boys Last Chance meet on May 16, bettering his previous mark of 155-3.75 from May 2026. The throw ranks #28 in Illinois, set a school record, and won the competition among 72 throwers.
Myles Smith (Winnebago) cleared 6-8.25 in the boys' high jump at the BNC Boys Conference Meet on May 14, improving from 6-4.25 set in May 2026. The mark ranks #11 in Illinois, established a school record and won the event among 12 jumpers.
Taylor Mabry (Monticello) ran 11:18.32 in the girls' 3200 meters at the IHSA Class 2A TRG Sectional at Mattoon on May 14, improving from 11:51.07. The junior ranks #85 in Illinois and #22 in her class after placing second in a field of 15. Mabry also set a personal best in the 1600 meters with 5:17.30, improving from 5:18.60.
Kenya Hernandez-Rodrigue (Willowbrook) ran 15.92 in the girls' 100-meter hurdles at the IHSA Class 3A TRG Sectional at Wheaton Warrenville South on May 14, improving from 16.87. The time ranks #102 in Illinois, set a school record, and earned fifth place among 32 competitors.
