Marcellus Moore Workout

It seems the rest of the country is starting to take notice of the former Illinois superstar. This week, a video was released of Marcellus doing a workout.  The Plainfield North alum also won a low-key tune-up 100 this week in preparation for the USA championships, which are quickly approaching.  Check out the video of his workout here: Team USA 100m Sleeper? I know who all of us in Illinois will be cheering for to make the team or the relay pool for the world championships!

MileSplit All National Teams Released

This week, the MileSplit crew released their all-national teams for the track and field season.  You can find the list here: https://www.milesplit.com/articles/379650/2025-milesplit-all-national-outdoor-track-field-honors

It is awesome how much MileSplit is continuing to promote the athletes from across the country this summer.  The all-state teams and now all national teams are a nice culmination to the end of the track and field season for most.  The list is incredible to see and something for our younger kids to aspire to be a part of--props to MileSplit for pushing the sport forward in this way.

Hoppel and Brazier excel at the London Diamond League

With most of the US completing their final preparations for the USA champs in a couple of weeks, Bryce Hoppel and Donovan Brazier traveled across the globe to get in one last 800 test against a great international field.  It was a great success for both athletes, with Hoppel running 1:42.71 and Brazier 1:43.08.  It was Brazier's first Diamond League race in over 3 years after returning from injury this summer.  He truly looks like he is back in form for an 800 at USA's, which is going to be incredible.

Lyles Finishes 2nd in the 100 at London Diamond League

Noah Lyles continues to complete his comeback from an ankle injury that postponed the start to his season.  He ran his first 100 meters of the season and finished in 10.00 to place 2nd.  With still about 2 months until the World Championships, there is still plenty of time for Noah to gain fitness.

Sinclaire Johnson Takes Down the Mile American Record

Another athlete who tested their form in London was Sinclaire Johnson, who raced to an American Record in the women's mile running 4:16.32. She is on track to make another US team and be in the conversation for the medals at worlds.  It's awesome to see her back competing at this level after missing the team for Paris.

Top Running-Related Podcasts for High School Runners

I have compiled a list of my favorite podcasts for high school runners to check out if they want to learn more about the sport. There are many more podcasts out there, but these are the ones that I must listen to each time they are updated.

  • The Running Effect Podcast delves into the mindsets and training of athletes for all track and field events.  The most recent podcast with Brandon Miller is incredible.  This is my go-to when I share podcasts with my team.  The insight from host Dominic Schlueter is incredible, and it's clear how much he knows about the sport. This podcast is a must for anyone serious about the sport.

  • The Citius Mag Podcast is a great one to listen to do dive deeper into the sport as a whole.  The Citius crew is redefining track and field coverage, and their insight each week and in all the major stories in track and field is second to none.  They also do a ton of live shows around the USA's, World Champs, and the Olympics.  Truly changing the way the sport is covered.

  • Coffee Club is a lighthearted look into the life of elite athletes with the On Athletics Club based out of Boulder.  Professional runners Oli Hoare, Morgan McDonald, and Geordie Beamish talk about the ins and outs of training and living like a pro, as well as their love for coffee and a lot of other non-running-related topics.  They have built up a huge fanbase that brings them bags of coffee beans to events.  They are one of a kind, and the comedic banter between the three of them and their guests is so much fun.

  • The Stride Report dives into the ins and outs of the collegiate running scene.  With updates and predictions as well as rankings and insight into the top teams, the Stride Report is a must-listen for anyone interested in the NCAA scene at all levels.  They do a great job of reporting the facts and have some really good discussions on races and events in the NCAA scene.  A great listen for the true track and field fan.

  • The Letsrun Podcast to me is the gold standard of reporting in the track and field world.  While many may disagree with the message board and hot takes delivered by the Johnson brothers, co-host Jonathan Gault is a true track and field historian and journalist.  His insights into the sport are incredible.  If you join the Let's Run supporters club, you get an extra podcast each week.  True fans of the sport are all in on this podcast.  It is the one I look forward to the most each week.
