IIC MEET INFORMATION
The 2025 IHSA indoor track and field season is officially underway. In its first week, several top teams competed at a high level, including 3A boys' #1 Oak Park-River Forest, which showcased its massive squad at the Proviso West #1 Meet on February 7.
The Huskies are deep in quantity and quality and will have a say on the championship landscape in May.
Before we get to May, there are remaining months of February and February to contend with. While some schools will use this time to develop and sharpen their blades for the outdoor season, a notable faction will work and compete as if there is a championship to compete in.
Let's talk about it.
Unlike on the East Coast, which contests indoor state championships, many states in the Midwest view track and field as one season. If there is a high-stakes championship meet during the conclusion of the winter, it is usually termed an "unofficial state meet." In Illinois, the Illinois Top Times has operated in that capacity for many years.
For the first time, the Illinois Indoor Championships will introduce what a true indoor championship experience and feel is supposed to be like. There will not be any classification barriers- it will be a winner-take-all scenario. And with the athletes participating and the fans in attendance, they will most assured be getting an interactive and fun experience.
Here are some notable programs that have enlisted themselves should they qualify: Batavia, Belleville West, Burbank (St. Laurence), Cahokia, Chatham-Glenwood, Champaign Centennial, Chicago Kenwood, Chicago Lane, Chicago South Shore International Prep, Chicago Whitney Young, Edwardsville, Huntley, Homewood-Flossmoor, OPRF, Mascoutah, Naperville (Neuqua Valley), Winnetka New Trier, Wheaton-Warrenville South, Plainfield South, Prospect, and many more!!
