Pre-Season Boys Indoor Preview: The 4x200 Relay

The DGS Mustang Relays produced some of the best times in the 3x200 relay

This event is tough to predict and figure out unless you actually know who runs on the relay. A Lot of times a team would add their 800m runner or move a sprinter up to quicken times at some relay centric meets. Some long hurdlers will be mixed in as well. One never really knows who has what until indoor championship season.

Elmhurst York: The Dukes have already lit the track on fire this early in the indoor season by running a flat track blazing time (1:31.57). That time should send waves thru the state that the unit is not to be messed with. Options for this indoor season include Luke Mailander, Joe Valeski, Leo Glennon, & Kelly Watson

Burbank (St. Laurence): The Vikings have some young talent such as Harley Rizzs and transfer John Hannah III to mix with upperclassmen Allan Potter and Quinton Williams IL. St. Laurence is typically strong in this event indoors.

Homewood Flossmoor is loaded with options for this event, they can and likely will mix up lineups this indoor with hopes of determining their outdoor plans. Robert Scott III, Andrew Mitchell, & John Gore are as formidable a trio as you will see. That battle will be on for that final spot and beyond.

Oak-Park River Forest has dropped some early-season gas. The Huskies are always in the mix in this event indoors. Kevin McGovern, Elijah Mowatt, & Caleb Schulz will be key contributors to this unit.

Crete-Monee the defending 3A champions return three from that unit led by Edward Clark III and Lynell Billups. Superathlete Joshua Franklin will join after wrestling to make this unit more dangerous.

Prospect flexed their muscle in many relays outdoors last season. Indoors they return Dominik Balenda, Xander Orlando, Luke Holtmeier, and Charlie Knee to attempt to create some magic indoors.

Honorable Mention: Kankakee, Hillside (Proviso West), Chicago (Kenwood), Shelbyville, Chicago Lane, Chicago (Brother Rice), Edwardsville, Troy Triad, Urbana, East St Louis, Catlin (Salt Fork), Chicago Heights (Marian Catholic), Plainfield North, Minooka
