By The Numbers: Top 250 Freshmen Boys Entering Regionals

-It appears we may be returning to the norms we are used to seeing. Last year's top freshman was Evan Nosek of Kaneland who ran 15:17. In 2020, Grant Giblin of Sandburg held the honor during the Pandemic with a mark of 14:54. Both runners are currently starring as critical members of their respective teams. 

-This year's crop may contain some great future runners. Alex Krieg is someone who fits the bill. As a member of Palatine, he was undefeated against his class of 2026 counterparts in undercard races. Now, as a member of the varsity team entering the regional round, Krieg is the second best runner behind his big brother senior Mason Krieg. With four of the top seven runners slated for graduation in 2023, it's a safe bet that Alex will take over the reins of the team next year.
