The 2021 IHSA State Championship reel tells quite a scene
The three returning trophy teams from 2021 are Tolono (Unity), Winnebago, and Eureka. Winnebago was 2021's preseason #1 and remained in that spot until Unity used their tight pack to pull ahead of Winnebago and take their first state title in five years. By virtue of the strength of their returning squad and their title defense, the Rockets remain on top to begin 2022. But with Winnebago in hot pursuit, as well as a Chicago newcomer who sports the largest roster in the class, going back-to-back will be no easy task for Unity. Who else is in the mix?
