We should be seeing more original style racing this season as things get underway this weekend
-It will be interesting to see what type of fireworks will be on display at Maxwell Park on Saturday morning. We all will get a peek into how "normal" cross country looks after two years of applying flight style and staggered racing action.
For the boys, this will be the season opener for 2A #1 Morton who was the Shazam State Champions last year. The Potters may or may not deploy their entire starting roster which contains all seven returning starters and eight performers under 16:00. If all is well, they should receive a test from #7 Dunlap and #13 Normal West- both 2A schools. #13 Minooka is entered on the boys side which adds a bit of intrigue. Individually, Morton sophs Josh Weeks, and Yonas Wuthrich should be right there with senior teammate Cade Zobrist.
On the girls side, #6 Minooka will be competing in their second competition in a week, but will the Indians run their full line up? They will see some top 2A teams in #10 Morton, #12 Mt. Zion, #14 Dunlap, and #22 Washington. Senior Jocelyn Host of Minooka ran 17:43 in her first race of the season. She will be the one to watch on race day.
