Deerfield Boys Invitational Recap


The track and field Gods have not been as kind as we wanted on Saturdays this season. Despite the drop in the climes, the effort of many performances remained high.

Key highlights: 

Kalil Johnson (Evanston) proved his worth by sweeping the hurdle races 14.49/39.46

Austin Cabanban (Loyola Academy) dropped two PBs in the 200 & 400 which turned into wins: 22.93/50.81

Griffin Pasha (Warren) followed up his solid mile effort at the Distance Night In Palatine with a meet record in the 800 (1:55.88)

Nick Falk (New Trier) set up his win against a strong field with a very late in the race kick to win the 1600 in a meet and personal best 4:16.43

Nathan Shapiro (Glenbrook South) leaped 22-1.75 to win the long jump but had to bow of the meet due to hurting his ankle

Hunter Matuch (Vernon Hills) won the discus throw in a personal best effort and IL#3 171-11

Prospect's 4x800 relay led at every exchange in winning in a season best IL#11 8:08.78

Lane Tech closed the meet by taking the 4x400 in a IL#4 3:27.16
