The futility of sprints among the Kankakee boys track and field program over an extended period of time has prompted a noticeable adjustment. The yearly mantra statements have been evident: "Year #1 Change The Culture; Year #2 Respect The Culture Year; #3 WE ARE THE CULTURE."
Part of the Kankakee culture shift revolves around seniors Quaevon Autman, Aveon Pittman, freshman Jayon Morrow, and sophomore Jyaire Hill. In this instance, the quartet rolled up into St. Rita HS on the southside of Chicago and made a huge statement in the 4x100m relay. It was the first race of the day for the Kays and they did not waste a second out of the blocks.
By the time anchorman Autman got the stick it was a wrap. He steamed home and past the finish line of view of the fans. But it didn't matter because the winning time flashed IL#3 43.42. According to the group afterwards, they are just getting started in this season's journey. The Kays were also victorious in the 4x200 with a solid time of 1:36.38.
