2021 Is Here: Girls Pre-Season Sprints Preview

60m-

2020 All-Class Best: Asia Thomas (So., Chicago Kenwood) 7.68
Key returners: Thomas, Sydney Weaver (Jr., Chicago Kenwood), Tanaya Young (Sr., Rantoul), Sydney Robinson (Jr., Chicago Whitney Young), Arianna Walker (Sr., Rich Township), Ranyah Hodges (Sr., Harvey [Thornton]), Madison Saunders (Sr.., Chicago Whitney Young), Lindsey Miller (Jr., Chicago Simeon), Ana Liese-Torian (So., Homewood-Flossmoor), Mariam Azeez (Jr., Frankfort [Lincoln-Way East]), Damiyah Morgan (Sr., Harvey [Thornton])
Outlook: Last year did not do the sprint corps just at all. There is a perception that had there been a full season, we could have seen another great cast of performances. There are so many quality sprinters waiting in the wings.

List leader Asia Thomas was just getting started in early March. Thomas showed evidence of greatness in a limited outdoor season with a solid Century clocking in 11.91. This club season should provide her real value and the reward could be a time of under 7.50. Thomas' teammate Sydney Weaver took the summer by storm with a state leading 11.81. That newfound confidence should put her up front near the list leaders.

One young lady not on the list is senior Savannah Ming of West Aurora. A former relay hand does not have a time of note on her resume but she burned the outdoor track with a 12.27. This kind of heat should not be ignored.
