47 years... thats how long the great Craig Virgin's 13:50 Detweiller Park course record had stood until Josh Methner of Hersey broke it at approximately 2:13pm on November 9th, 2019. Methner came through the first 800m to show he was not playing around with the field as he went out at 2:08 already looking to gap the field. As the race continued marks of 4:28 at Mile 1, 6:45 halfway through, and 9:12 at Mile 2... it became obvious that Methner wasn't just going for the win and instead the legendary state record that the likes of Lukas Verzbicas and Chris Derrick were unsuccessful in obtaining. Now you will read 13:49.90 in the record books until the new challenger emerges, but it may be another 50 years until we see a once in a lifetime talent like Josh Methner.
