2019 Class 3A Boys Pre-Season Relays Preview

Marcellus the great thrilled the crowd at state with his amazing anchor leg

4x100m-

2018 State Champion: Plainfield North (Anthony Capezio, Brendan Hanneman, Brian Registe, Marcellus Moore) 41.29

Key Teams: Chicago Heights (Bloom Twp.), Collinsville, Plainfield North, South Elgin, Homewood-Flossmoor, Huntley, Bloomington, Normal Community West, Crete-Monee, Oak Park-River Forest, Proviso West, Alton

Breakdown: 2018 was a record-breaking season led by the exploits of superstar anchor Marcellus Moore whose blistering leg on the "big blue" track inside O'Brien Stadium was legendary. Moore ran down then class record holders Homewood-Flossmoor in a record-setting performance for his program. The Tigers will need to replace two graduated legs for Moore.

As far as this relay is concerned as a whole, look for a mixture of teams with different speed elements and makeups. Teams such as Bloom, South Elgin, Huntley, and Bloomington will see success collectively due to a lack of a star to get out to a big lead or close races out like Plainfield North or Collinsville.

Homewood-Flossmoor was smarting after not finishing as the #1 team. The '17 champs were ticketed to the top of the podium until that guy from Plainfield North broke their soul. However, the Vikings have two speed demons back in Joshua Bridges and Jesuseun Adeyiga. They also have a stud sophomore by the name of Marshall Ellis who will be ready in due time.
