Key Athletes: Geremiah Lawson (Sr., Plainfield Central), Jamal Safo (Sr., Crete-Monee), Kenyon Johnson (Jr., Edwardsville), Jalen Hunter (Sr., Homewood-Flossmoor), Malcolm Bevans (So., Chicago [St. Ignatius]), Calvin Johnson (Jr., Crete-Monee), JT Lowder (Sr., Oak Park-River Forest), Temi Osobamiro (Sr., Metea Valley), Kieon Battle (Jr., Oswego East), Zach Grindley (Sr., Antioch)

Breakdown: Last year the question is 'who was the top dog in the long jump?' That answer varied depending on who you asked as multiple athletes showed flashes in the event. This season appears to be more of the same as we enter it with no clear favorite.

Jamal Safo is perhaps one of the most underrated athletes in the state. The two-time all-stater is coming off a football season where his team finished state runner-ups. A mainstay in this event will look to not only take home the crown but possibly eclipse the 24-foot mark.

Geremiah Lawson has shown flashes of greatness in this event, the Top Times champion who battled through injuries the last few years hopes this Senior season will remind the people of his capabilities

Kenyon Johnson the final returner to hit the 23ft mark will look to get in medal position his junior year finishing 12th as a Sophomore.

Jalen Hunter finished with All-State honors last season and hopes to move up the list and score big points for the Vikings.
