3A Girls Field Events Preview: The Talent Pool Is Here!

The jumps were delightfully pleasant with a mixture of youth and elder talent

Triple Jump-
2018 State Champion: Riley Ammenhauser (So., Naperville [Neuqua Valley]) 40-2.25 [-1.6]
Key Returners: Ammenhauser, Trinity Daniels (Sr., Homewood-Flossmoor), Olivia Lewis (Sr., Machesney Park [Harlem]), Passion Worsham (Sr., Oak Park-River Forest), Daryn Davis (Jr., Huntley), Lovie Annafi (Jr., Chicago Whitney Young), Bria Armstrong (Sr., Chicago Heights [Bloom Twp.]), Laqwasia Stepney (Sr., Belleville West)
Outlook: One of the biggest surprises in all of the 2018 track and field season was Riley Ammenhauser. Coming into that season, not a single person could be found to predict the success she would have. Not only did the multi-talented athlete win state as a precocious freshman, but she also grabbed the #1 spot in the nation in her age/grade category. The talent pool in 3A is good but not as strong as 2A which may be a good thing for Ammenhauser who has a foot advantage over Trinity Daniels. However, don't mention this to Daniels who earned All-American honors last summer at the AAU Nationals in Des Moines, IA. But remember this one item: championships are won on the field and not in the paper.

Emerging leapers such as Daryn Davis, Lovie Annafi, Passion Worsham, and the part-timer Laqwasia Stepney will be ready to step it up when their names are called.
