2019 Class 2A Girls Sprints And Hurdles Preview

Shanisa Stinson and Kaylynn Florence do battle last year at the state prelims

300H-
2018 State Champion: Jessica Franklin (Mahomet-Seymour) 43.45
Key returners: Veronica Sherrod (Jr., East St. Louis ), Emelia Ness (Jr., Monticello), Kynzee Boastick (Jr., Urbana), Shanisa Stinson (Sr., Chicago South Shore International College Prep), Brooke Barkocy (So., Burlington Central), Kiyah Kuhlman (Sr., Effingham )
Outlook: The state's top two hurdlers in Jessica Franklin and Karyn Best have graduated and moved on.  Next up is Veronica Sherrod who has been instrumental in the Flyerettes track and field affairs over the past two seasons, could be the one to set the bar. Sherrod's 44.01 personal best is the second fastest returning time in Illinois and more than a second faster than fellow classification all-stater Emelia Ness. Kynzee Boastick, Shanisa Stinson, and Brooke Barkocy are top returning all-staters. The long hurdles as a whole should improve because of the high number of talent returning.
